The Mid Norfolk Gundog Club held a Special Puppy/ Novice Any Variety Retriever Test at Kilverstone Estate, Thetford, by very kind permission of Lord and Lady Fisher.
A good sized field was divided into four groups, and completed four exercises on a lovely piece of ground for gundog work. There was a water retrieve, a double mark in knee high reeds, and tests in woodland. There was a spread of experience, from IGL winner to first time handlers, and this was represented in the scores.
We were very fortunate that there was cloud cover so the day wasn't anyway near as hot as forecast, and didn't affect the running of the dogs.
The results were:
Puppy:
1st Pinfeathers Guinevert, Nick Barker
2nd Birdsgreen Article, Mike Tallamy
3rd Southgreen Magician, Doug Lafin
COM Brookehope Malachite, James Payne
COM Misty Green Meadow Land, Lesley Crompton
Novice:
1st Shallowbeck Bridie at Scarningvale, Peter Abbs
2nd Cecile Pearl Witherington, Andi Whitisham
3rd Caulincourt Ffion, Ben Southam
COM Norse Raven, Alice Trett
COM Galark Daisy of Rowenarcher, Kerry Ellis

The Club ran its last Open AV Retriever GWT of the season yesterday at Kilverstone Estate, Thetford by kind permission of Lord and Lady Fisher.

This was a walked up open test in sugarbeet with canvas dummies and live shot run on Field Trial lines.

Our steward of the beat was Reg Rayner who as always sets a up a fantastic test and used the undulating terrain to great advantage to add to the challenge for the handlers and dogs. The weather was dry and sunny and throughout the day there was some exemplary handling and it was a joy to watch all the dogs works.
